The truancy and status offense diversion program works in collaboration with local school districts, law enforcement agencies, the Public Defenders Office, Juvenile Court and Probation, Child Protective Services, social services agencies, behavioral health, and the Coconino County Health Department.
The Coconino County Attorney’s Office is collaborating with all Flagstaff Unified School District (F.U.S.D.) elementary schools in a new program (remodeled version of ATTEND) designed to prevent truancy and ensure regular school attendance for all students. Chronic absenteeism and truancy are precursors for many other behavioral and criminal problems later in life, so it is very important that all elementary students attend school regularly.
