Chip seal operations continued this week in Munds Park despite rainy and cold conditions. Approximately 23 miles of pavement preservation projects are being conducted in the Munds Park area including chip sealing, fog sealing on Pinewood Boulevard and Munds Ranch Road and an asphalt overlay that is being applied to Oak Drive and Crestline Road. Chip seal and asphalt overlay work is expected to be completed by May 26, weather permitting. Chip and fog sealing should be done by the middle of June.
Chip sealing is used as a preventative measure to protect asphalt. This year’s chip seal and pavement preservation projects are being conducted along more than 48 miles of paved County roads. Almost 13 miles of Lake Mary Road was chip sealed earlier this month and the County’s final chip sealing project of 2017 in the Pittman Valley area is slated to begin on or before June 1.
