County holds Tinder Fire community meeting

Re-entry planning for Blue Ridge-area residents

Coconino County, in coordination with the Southwest Area Type 1 Incident Command Team and the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office will host a community meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 3 at the Winslow High School, 600 E. Cherry Ave., Winslow, Ariz. This meeting will provide re-entry information to residents displaced by the fire.

During the meeting, attendees will receive an update on the Tinder Fire from the Incident Management Team. The County Sheriff’s Office will review the Staged Re-Entry Plan, which is designed to allow residents that lost homes to re-enter first, and then describes the details of the rest of the process. County Emergency Management will review the recovery services that will be available to residents. County and State Departments and other cooperating agencies will be on hand to provide information about the recovery services after the meeting.

A re-entry time and date has not yet been set, but is expected to be announced at the meeting tonight unless unforeseen hazards emerge during the final safety mitigation efforts underway today.

Evacuated residents of the Blue Ridge area that have not yet contacted the Coconino Call Center at 928-213-2990 to provide their contact information should do so as soon as possible. This is the best way for the County to directly communicate with people on any assessment or re-entry information. Without contact info, the County will not be able communicate specific, individual information directly to those affected individuals.

Damage assessments are underway now so that loss of homes can be communicated to those affected.
