Womens' Sewing Program Gives Back to the Community

On December 1, 2016 Coconino County Sheriff’s Office held its annual blanket giveaway benefiting non-profits and community service groups in the greater Flagstaff area.  Throughout the year, women in the jail’s sewing program learn sewing skills under the guidance of an instructor and program coordinator.  They make blankets and other sewn goods which are donated to local organizations in the community such as Flagstaff Medical Center, Northland Hospice, St Vincent de Paul, Catholic Social Services and others. This is a full circle community partnership - most of the materials for the sewing program come from community donations and the products go back to the community.

Sheriff's Office Making a Difference - Community Thank You Messages

“This is to express my thanks to your administrative team and to Deputy Cochran for their prompt follow-up to my call for an explanation regarding a suspicious call we received on Friday,December 9. An individual named "Larry Chesser" left a message, did not spell his name, claimed to be a"civil processing official" w/your office and asked that we call him back ASAP at (928) 613-2521. Just a couple of hours after I reported this call to your administrative team, Deputy Cochran called us and left a message explaining that this was a scam targeting Northern Arizona. Your office also posted this information on the web and we heard the story on the evening news. Your team was responsive and professional. Thanks again for a job well done.”
