Patrol Districts
The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office Patrol DivisionsPatrol Division is dedicated to preventing and responding to crimes in Coconino County. The patrol division also works closely with the Criminal Investigations Division in providing support to the detectives.

If you have an immediate need for a deputy to respond to your call, please call the Dispatch Center at (928) 774-4523. Please do not call a deputy directly to place a call for service, file an initial report, or request him / her to respond to a call. All calls for service must go through our dispatch center.
For emergencies, dial 9-1-1

Our Philosophy - Community Policing
The Sheriff's Office Patrol Division is committed to the community policing philosophy. The goals of this philosophy are to:
  • Meet the needs of the community and work toward the common good of the community
  • Enhance the quality of life within the community
  • Establish alliances among law enforcement, community members, businesses, and other government entities
  • Become part of the community and develop a thorough understanding of the day-to-day activities within the community
  • Facilitate crime prevention and problem solving within the community

While all of our deputies are trained in community policing, some neighborhoods in the county have designated officers who work closely with neighborhood groups and organizers of special events. These community deputies are available as a resource to residents in their assigned neighborhoods; however, all deputies take police reports anywhere in the county when on duty.

Calls for Service

When a person calls the sheriff’s office to report a crime or suspicious activity, the responder is a patrol deputy. He/she meets with the person, either in person or over the phone. If a crime has been committed, the deputy takes an initial report. If the report requires further investigation (such as crimes involving domestic violence, crimes of a sexual nature, crimes against children, homicides or suspicious deaths), the initial report is forward to the Criminal Investigations Division. Reports are forwarded to the county attorney’s office. The County attorney’s office reviews the report and determines if there is sufficient evidence to charge the suspect.

In addition to responding to reported crimes, patrol deputies provide many other daily community safety services including:
  • Accident reports
  • Assist with fire and medical calls
  • Business checks
  • Civil standby and civil paper service
  • DUI enforcement
  • Initial response to search and rescue incidents
  • Motorists / public assists
  • Patrols of forest roads
  • Patrols of neighborhoods
  • Property checks
  • Public education
  • Traffic enforcement
  • Welfare checks

The Coconino County Sheriff's Office Patrol Function is divided into three geographical patrol districts: Flagstaff, Page, and Williams. Within this structure also are the duties of Civil Process Service and
