Townsend-Winona Road Pavement Repair Project

Project Overview

The Townsend-Winona Road Pavement Repair Project was necessary to repair the deteriorated four-mile stretch of Townsend-Winona Road between U.S. Highway 89 to just east of Rio Rancho Road. This “mill and fill” project, which was approved by the Board of Supervisors on April 2, 2019, included the milling of two inches of existing asphalt and the installation of approximately 2.5 inches of asphalt on the travel lanes and shoulders of Townsend-Winona Road between U.S. Highway 89 and just east of Rio Rancho Road. This section of roadway was severely impacted by freeze/thaw cycles that created numerous potholes along the roadway during the winter. of 2018 - 2019 Left unrepaired, the pavement would have continued to deteriorate and would have required a complete and very costly reconstruction.
