July 02, 2020: Work on Phase A of the Bellemont Access & Safety Improvements Project continued this week with the substantial completion of paving operations for shoulder widening. Next week the contractor will begin parkway grading along the north and south sides of Shadow Mountain Blvd. to prepare for placement of right-of-way landscaping. Traffic control flaggers will remain in place and be used continuously throughout each day’s work shift with traffic reduced to one lane and wait times averaging 0 to 5 minutes each day. Phase A remains slightly ahead of schedule with construction slated for a mid-August completion.
The Bellemont Access and Safety Improvements Project will address traffic flow and safety issues at the intersection of Transwestern Road, Shadow Mountain Drive and Brannigan Park Road in Bellemont. The project, which will tie into Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) right of way, will be built in two phases:
Phase A of the project includes a four-foot shoulder widening of Shadow Mountain Drive to install multimodal lanes between Alpine Road and Pegasus Drive.
Phase B, which is scheduled to start this summer and be completed this winter, will include the construction of a roundabout and development of an alternative business access to improve traffic circulation for trucks, businesses, travelers and residents.
