Elections Department

In Coconino County, the Elections Department reports directly to the Coconino County Board of Supervisors.

Conduct Special, Primary, General and Presidential Preference elections
Conduct County-level Initiative, Referendum, and Recall elections
Contract election services with various jurisdictions in the county such as:
- Cities & Towns
- Special Districts (fire, domestic water & waste water improvement, sanitary, road improvement, hospital, etc.)
- School districts (in conjunction with the Coconino County Education Service Agency)
Reserve Vote Centers:
- Ensure that every Vote Center meets ADA standards for accessibility
- Hire and train 350+ Election Board Workers to staff Vote Centers
- Prepare & deliver voting booths, and all Vote Center supplies
- Test & deliver accessible voting equipment units, electronic poll books, and ballot on demand printers
The Elections Department is also responsible for:
- Preparation, ordering & testing of all ballots
- Candidate and political campaign filings
- Tabulation of ballots
- Preparation of election results for canvass
- Periodically reviewing election precinct boundaries for necessary updates
