Codes and Ordinances

  • The Coconino County Building Division uses the following codes:
    • 2018 International Residential Code
    • 2018 International Building Code
    • 2018 International Mechanical Code
    • 2018 International Fuel Gas Code
    • 2018 International Plumbing Code
    • 2018 International Energy Conservation Code
    • 2018 International Existing Building Code
    • 2017 National Electrical Code
  • 2019-10 Coconino County Building Ordinance - adopting the 2018 Suite of Building Codes with Amendments
  • 2020-11 Earthen Building and Construction Ordinance- regulating the quality and type of material, testing and workmanship of all aspects of construction of earthen buildings or structures
  • Plan Attachment Sheet - to be reviewed in conjunction with building permits

Building Within the Sedona Fire District

The Sedona Fire District, to include Oak Creek Canyon, has adopted the 2018 Wildland and Urban Interface Codes.  Fire suppression systems are required, in addition to compliance of the Wildland and Urban Interface Codes.  For additional information, please contact Chief Fire Marshal Dori Booth (928)282-6800. The Sedona Fire Marshal will be conducting concurrent plan reviews with Coconino County to ensure code compliance.
