NAIPTA/Mountain Line
-
Mountain Line’s mission is “Getting You Where You Want to Go”. Established in 2006, Mountain Line is the public transit agency in northern Arizona operating fixed route bus service on nine routes, paratransit service, vanpool, and seasonal Mountain Express service to Arizona Snowbowl.
-
The NAIPTA facility expansion, designed by DLR Group and built by Kinney Construction Services, Inc., was completed in 2015.
-
One of NAIPTA's key guiding principles is to be environmental stewards. The project was certified by the Coconino County Sustainable Building Program in 2015, achieving an Advanced Plus rating!
-
Bus Storage and Bus Wash facilities extend the useful service life of the typical bus from 12 years to 15 years.
-
The Bus Wash system uses reclaimed water that minimizes fresh domestic water use by reusing a large portion of the “waste” water of the wash.
-
-
The HVAC system is made up of boilers with variable frequency drives (VFDs), a smart exhaust system and radiant floor heat that work together to minimize heat loss and monitor air quality. This is some of the tubing for the in-floor hydronic heating system
-
This Benchmark condensing boiler with modulation is up to 99% efficient and has low nitrous oxide emissions.
-
Variable frequency drives work with the high efficiency boilers to optimize the allocation of hot water for building heating and bus washing purposes.
-
This 378 Kilowatt roof top solar system generates additional capacity back to the APS grid and saves Mountain Line $1500 per month in utility costs.
-
Google Earth gives a great birds eye view of the extent of the solar panels for this building!
-
The lighting fixtures are high efficiency T8 fluorescents with motion activation.
-
The overhead garage doors are operated by motion sensors to minimize heat loss.
-
Dark Sky compliant lighting reduces impact on the night sky.
-
Native landscaping will also conserve water and storm water detention will retain the water on site, preventing surface water contamination.
-
Zero VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint improves indoor air quality.
-
Water bottle stations encourage the use of refillable bottles.
-
Mountain Line is one of the first transit systems in the country to have a fully hybrid fleet and is considering a transition to electric buses. This transition is estimated to save 1,780 GHG emissions annually over current fleet.
-
Ride the bus and reduce your carbon footprint – you can help northern Arizona stay a great place to live, work and play!
