October 1st from 10 am to 2 pm (later tour times for outlying areas, see information below)
The Coconino County Sustainable Building Program is excited to be hosting its 18th annual Sustainable Building Tour this fall! This year we have an interesting assortment of tour opportunities for you, each with a unique story and array of sustainability features, including:
Two passive solar, strawbale, off-grid homes, Lucky Dragons Ranch and Whitehorse Retreat; (Tour times are later for these two sites to allow for tour-goers to tour in-town projects first. Whitehorse Retreat will be open from 11 am - 3 pm, and Lucky Dragons Ranch will be open from noon - 4 pm)
The Locust Electrification Project: Parts 1 & 2, a great educational opportunity to learn about home electrification from a local expert;
The 4 Square Historic Project- a sidewalk tour about the historic preservation and energy retrofit of four homes on Townsite Community Land Trust land;
Coconino Community College's new Del Webb Construction Technology Management (CTM) Lab highlighting CTM programs, new equipment and their partnership with Habitat for Humanity in building Starter Home panels;
Three sustainable residences (Eccleston, Scully and Taylor) with a wide variety of sustainable methods and technologies;
Our Tour kick-off location- Willow Bend Environmental Education Center, a model of sustainable building, with its strawbale construction, passive solar design, solar PV, rainwater harvesting and more!
Tour packets will be available the day of the tour from 10am - 2 pm at Willow Bend Environmental Education Center, 703 E. Sawmill Rd., or you'll be able to sign in here to download one after September 27th.
We had planned to offer a van ride to the projects in outlying areas, but will not be able to due to liability issues. We appreciate your understanding.
