Division VI

Superior Court Division VI

Judge Brent D. Harris was appointed to Division 6 of the Superior Court in Coconino County in June 2022. Judge Harris moved to Flagstaff, AZ, in 2004 after graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Juris Doctorate, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Arizona. Judge Harris handled the Public Defender contracts for Flagstaff and Camp Verde, and practiced many other areas of law, including felony and misdemeanor criminal work, delinquencies, and dependencies while working for Kirkpatrick & Harris, PC, before opening his own law firm in 2010.

At the Law Offices of Brent D. Harris, PC, Judge Harris spent years practicing estate planning, guardianship, conservatorship, and probate work while continuing to handle criminal, civil, family law and other matters for his clients.  Judge Harris also trained and mentored interns from Northern Arizona University (at least eight of whom are now attorneys), younger attorneys with whom he associated, and taught Ethics and Law at Northern Arizona University for a number of years. Judge Harris has been a Certified Mediator since 2007 and has experience in all types of alternative dispute resolution. Judge Harris also handled real estate matters for his clients, including becoming a Licensed Realtor © working closely with real estate agents throughout northern Arizona.

In 2015, after his first child was born, Judge Harris gave up the private arena and joined the City of Flagstaff as an Assistant City Prosecutor. About a year later, Judge Harris was appointed as the City Prosecutor for the City of Flagstaff with his goals to reduce crime victimization and recidivism by focusing on alternatives to prosecution. Judge Harris spearheaded the Mental Health and Veteran’s specialty courts, revised the diversion program options available through his office, and worked to increase pay and staffing levels for his team, vastly reducing turnover and increasing job satisfaction for the team of 10+ attorneys, staff, and interns that he led. Judge Harris and his family are very excited about this newest development in his career serving northern Arizonans as Superior Court Judge Pro Tempore for Division VI of the Superior Court in Coconino County.

When not in the office, Judge Harris spends time with his awesome kids, outdoors with his dog exploring northern Arizona, with friends and family, watching rugby, or attending events in the community.  Judge Harris is also a former President of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff, the Coconino County Bar Association, the Northern Arizona Rugby Football Club, and the Flagstaff Highland Games and is a Member of the Flagstaff Leadership Program Class of 2014.
