Slayton Ranch Road – Rio De Flag Crossing Improvement Project

What's New...

02 June 2023: The Slayton Ranch Road – Rio De Flag Crossing Improvement Project continued on schedule this week with subgrade prep and the completion of AB grading for the upcoming installation of the new arch concrete box structure. Footing and turndown excavation also got underway this week.

Next week the subcontractor is scheduled to be on site to begin forming and pouring the footings and slab for the arch concrete box structure.

The Public Works Engineering Division team will be hosting a Meet in the Street just north of the project site at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14 to discuss the project’s progress. An invitation for the event was mailed to area residents this week.

Project Overview

The Slayton Ranch Road – Rio De Flag Crossing Improvement Project will replace the crossing that washed out on March 24, 2023, due to heavy snowmelt flows in the Rio. The project will include a 4’X12’ cast-in-place concrete arch structure under Slayton Ranch Road at the Rio De Flag crossing along with headwalls and inlet and outlet protection. Once the new arch structure is installed, the damaged portion of Slayton Ranch Road will be reconstructed and reopened.

The overall construction timeframe for this project is estimated to be 100 days, which includes the requisite cure period for the concrete arch structure. Completion is slated for this summer; however, this schedule is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen factors.
