Coconino County Announces Commander of Operations – Gerrit Boeck

Flagstaff, AZ, February 8

Please join us in congratulating Gerrit Boeck who has been promoted to the rank of Commander, effective immediately. Gerrit will oversee Criminal Investigation and Patrol Operations. We also want to take this time to thank the candidates who tested for this position and who showed great dedication to the mission, vision and values of this agency. The testing process was very rigorous, and the candidates are to be recognized for their outstanding performance.

Gerrit has been with CCSO since September 2002 when he joined as a Deputy. He promoted to Corporal in March 2006, Sergeant in November 2010, and to Lieutenant in July 2017. Gerrit served in Criminal Investigations as well as Lieutenant over the Flagstaff Patrol Division. Prior to joining CCSO, Gerrit was a wildland firefighter for the US Forest Service and a Law Enforcement Park Ranger for Arizona State Parks and the National Park Service.

Gerrit has served the Sheriff’s Office and community in many different capacities throughout his career at CCSO. He is an AZPOST General Instructor, Field Training Officer, Drug Recognition Expert and Phlebotomist. He was a principal player in developing the K9 Unit.

His commitment to Service to Community and his leadership have been recognized throughout the years. In 2004 Gerrit was awarded the Veterans of Foreign Wars Officer of the Year; in 2006 he received the Masonic Lodge Officer of the year and in 2008 he was co-recipient of the National Public Service Award. In 2014 he received a Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) award for his commitment to DUI related enforcement and community education.

 Gerrit’s service to Coconino County and the Leadership Philosophy of CCSO will be an asset as he assumes his new role as Commander. Our best wishes to Commander Gerrit Boeck.
