The Parks Community Recreation Survey was launched after several residents expressed an interest in enhancing community parks and recreation assets in Parks. As a follow-up to the survey, the Parks and Recreation Department hosted two virtual community meetings in Dec. 2020 to review the survey results, compare these with findings and recommendations from the 2019 County Parks and Recreation Master Plan, answer questions and share our recommended course of action.
April 2020 Update
The Coconino County Board of Supervisors approved the Coconino County Parks & Recreation Master Plan at their March 24, 2020 meeting! Thank you for all your input and support!
March 2020 Update
Coconino County Parks & Recreation will be presenting an update on the department’s Master Plan to the Board of Supervisors on March 24. The Regular Session meeting begins at 10 a.m. and the Master Plan Update is scheduled for approximately 2:45 p.m.

March 2019 Update - Thank you to everyone who filled out the Master Plan survey!
410 surveys were returned from the random sample survey and 520 surveys were completed online during the open period. The department is now preparing the Draft Master Plan document and it will be available for review this summer. Once the plan is released, people will be encouraged to review and offer opinions on the draft.

Parks and Recreation conducted 27 community and stakeholder meetings across Coconino County in the fall 2018, and gave 17 presentations and participated in 4 open houses. 751 meeting participants heard about the master plan process and gave input about parks and recreation needs. Thank you to everyone who participated!

This master plan will shape the future of Coconino County’s parks, recreation, trails, and open spaces by identifying each community’s needs, goals and priorities.
Parks, recreation, and open spaces objectives change over time. By identifying existing conditions, needs, and future resources, this master plan will craft a shared vision in Coconino County.

Coconino County Parks and Recreation's 2009 Organizational Master Plan established goals, policies, and strategies to re-position the department to provide a wider range of outdoor programs and services to a wider range of citizens. Goals addressed through 2019 relate to: facility management, repair, and replacement; financial and budgetary management; strategic growth; and new programs and facilities.
